Scope and Contents

From the Series:

Series 5 consists of diaries, journals, and notebooks. Folders are arranged by title. The bulk of the material within this series was written by Nancy Irene Bailey Barber. Many of the journal entries have been made on scraps or small pieces of paper. Some are extremely difficult to read, having been written in small, light pencil. Most are fragmented and challenging to follow. Other writers include an unknown Bailey family member, Amzi D. Barber, and an as-yet unidentified daughter of Abel Parker. Bailey Barber’s journal entries focus mostly on her life in the 1820s and 1830s and are religious in nature. They provide information about her life in Oneida County, New York, and her mental state following the illness and death of her mother. Amzi Barber’s diary and journal entries provide minimal information about his daily schedule and activities.
