Scope and Contents
This series consists primarily of letters sent to and from Mary Church Terrell, including letters sent between Terrell and her family members and friends, letters to newspaper editors, and other communications related to her work as an activist. The series is also organized by topic. Letters written by Terrell and her daughter, Phyllis Terrell Langston, pertaining to the donation of Terrell’s papers to the Library of Congress and Howard University, and those regarding A Colored Woman in a White World, are housed in separate folders. There is a small amount of unidentified correspondence. This series is comprised of three subseries.
