Scope and Contents
The Oberlin College Archives holds issues of Ao Tung from 1974-1987, 1990-2003, and 2006. Ao Tung is an undergraduate journal that was an annual publication of the Oberlin College East Asian Studies Program.
Ao Tung is published in stapled paper booklets. Published content includes historical and literary articles, essays, prose, poetry, and playwriting from both students and Oberlin College faculty. Some topics of interest include the struggle of the Chinese peasant for structural representation, the poems of Gu Cheng, translated Hmong poetry, occupation narratives, and musical compositions for voice and piano. Ao Tung's 1989 publication is specifically dedicated to the vignette reflections of Oberlin students on the Oberlin in China program during its inception year, fall semester 1989.
