Burnt Star, ca. 1960s
Scope and Contents
Burnt Star is a literary magazine for poems, short stories, plays, essays, and creative works, accompanied by visual art edited by Oberlin College students in the 1960s. The editors of the Burnt Star claim no affiliation with the Oberlin College Yeoman. The submissions are not required to be from Oberlin students and include content from students at other institutions as well as student translations of already-published works (i.e., Federico Garcia Lorca). Though a serious publication, Burnt Star also features parodies. An editing team of two managed the publication. The final (fifth) volume differs from the rest. Published in booklet form, it contains only nineteen poems.
