"News from China," Disbound Scrapbook, 1904-1919
Scope and Contents
Organized into two subseries by type of material. Subseries 1 contains textual materials: correspondence, transcriptions and photocopies of news accounts, a disbound scrapbook entitled "News From China," containing clippings and printed materials, and loose notes, organized alphabetically by topic or type of material. Files mainly concern the activities of Oberlin missionaries in reopening the Shansi Mission after 1904. Two files pertain to the 1900 Boxer Rebellion and the martyred missionaries. Subseries 2 contains photographs: loose photographs, arranged alphabetically by subject. Photographs depict the Taigu and Fenzhou missions of Shansi Province, China and their missionaries, including the Rev. Wynn C. Fairfield and Rev. Paul L. Corbin families.
