This collection has been subdivided into nine series. It includes records dating from 1923-2002, such as administrative information, correspondence, membership, and financial records along with photographs and artifacts.

Abstract The records of the City of Oberlin span 1858 to 2007. This material documents many aspects of the administration of Oberlin, including: minutes of City Council, records of City Officials, city boards, commissions and committees; ordinances and resolutions; the records of the Water Works, Police and Fire Departments, Public Works, and Code Administrators. This collection is divided into 14 record series. Its records span 1937 through 1998, and include administrative information, annual reports, correspondence, financial records, membership records, publicity and program files, and photographs.

The records consist of minutes of meetings (14 vols.), treasurer’s books (3 vols.), printed programs, membership lists, newspaper obituaries and other clippings, correspondence, financial records, and some printed matter of state or national origin.

Scope and Contents Central to the records are nine journals, 1887-1944, which contain minutes of meetings and annual reports. The journal covering the first two years is missing, and thus documentation explaining the precise purpose and scope of the group is lacking. Most of the other records are financial, including ledgers, 1885-1924 (3 vols.), and cashbooks, 1892-1928 (4 vols.), detailing how moneys were received and expended.
