Administrative History
The Faculty Club operated from November 14, 1919 until 1938. It was located at 105 Elm Street in the Currier house which had been remodeled to house the club. The club sought "to promote social intercourse and good fellowship among its members" [1927 constitution] and its rolls were open to faculty and their spouses, trustees, resident alumni and some others. The club provided meals and guest rooms for Oberlin residents and visitors. Receptions, teas, and other entertainment were held at the club. Policies were directed by elected officers and directors who reported to the membership at annual meetings. The club closed in 1938 due to lack of interest and an increasing deficit.
