Biographical or Historical Information

Elizabeth Kadelbach, of Berlin, Germany, was a guest in Oberlin during 1914-15. She had been teaching during the summer at the University of Wisconsin, but due to the sudden outbreak of the war in Europe, she was unable to return to Germany. Among her former students in Berlin were Arletta Maria Abbott, who taught at Oberlin from 1893 to 1921 and was head of Oberlin’s German department, and German Professor William Eugene Mosher (1878-1945, class of 1899), who taught at Oberlin from 1899 to 1919. Kadelbach is credited by Mosher in his English preface to a German language reader published in 1906. She assisted him with descriptions of Germany for the publication.
