William L. Mezger Papers
Scope and Contents
William Mezger collected these papers while working on a history of the Oberlin College Alumni Association. They consist of memoranda, letters, and minutes dealing with the organization and operation of the Association and include some writings about its history. Of particular interest are letters or interviews written in 1970 by the following persons describing their experiences and knowledge of the Association: Frederick Artz, Dan Bradley, Robert D. Fisher, Virginia Fletcher, E.E. McSweeney, Carroll K. Shaw and Frank Van Cleef.
Note: Entry taken from William Bigglestone's unpublished "[Guide] to the Oberlin College Archives," which was prepared on individual entry sheets in a three-ring binder sometime during the early 1980s.

Biographical Sketch
William Lawrenz Mezger, born Dec. 29, 1915 in Dayton, OH (AB 1938) to Harry William (1880-1944) and Helen Elizabeth Mezger (d. 1961). He was an advertising executive in Dayton active in Oberlin Alumni Association affairs. He served as the organization's treasurer, 1964-66, and as president, 1967-69. He married Betty Virginia Derr (1919-2003). Mezger died on February 19, 2004 in Centerville, Montgomery, OH.
