Scope and Contents

The L. Dean Nuernberger Papers are divided into seven series.  The bulk of the collection comprises his original compositions from his entire career, spanning the mid-1940s to 2009.  Transcriptions and research materials make up the other, larger series.  The collection holds very little biographical or teaching materials.

The papers consist of 12 letters from Lovancia Pease (1821-1912, enrolled 1839-1841) and classmates Rhodelia Cole and Fanny Hovey at Oberlin, 1839-1841; copies of five letters from her mother, Lucinda Pease, 1839-40; notes on Alice Welch Cowles' lectures, 1839; a printed essay, ca. 1868, focused on the "woman question" and titled "Lost Image Found," by Lovancia P. Lyman; a sketch of her life; photographs; genealogical information; song books; and other related items.

Scope and Contents The Mary Rudd Cochran papers primarily consist of biographical files, correspondence, financial and property files, professional records, writings files, and photographs. Scope and Contents The Robert P. Fountain Papers document his career as a singing teacher and director of choral music, and to a lesser degree his early life. The bulk of his papers consist of thirteen scrapbooks, most of which his son, Robert H. Fountain, assembled.
