Scope and Contents These records document the mock political conventions held at Oberlin College from 1860 to 1968. This quadrennial event was an Oberlin tradition that many alumni regarded as a highlight of their student experience. There were twenty-seven mock political conventions held at Oberlin. Scope and Contents Although Gilbert and Sullivan operettas have been produced at Oberlin at least since the 1930s, the Oberlin Gilbert and Sullivan Players, as a group, was formed in 1949. The first production, The Pirates of Penzance, took place in 1950.  The bulk of records cover the period 1949-1990.
