John Hamlin reflect the lives of two Oberlin graduates who met during their service in China as Shansi representatives in the mid-1930s, and continued after their marriage in 1942 to pursue a lifetime of service in the Far East. Scope and Contents
The records of OSMA date from 1881 to the present and relate to the activities of Oberlinians in Asia during that period.
Earlier records discuss missionary work of the Oberlin Band: evangelism, teaching, medical work, and the operation of "opium refuges" in the Shanxi province of China. The bulk of this collection deals with the OSMA, which was formed as a living memorial to Oberlin missionaries who died in the Boxer Rebellion of 1900.
