The records of the Directors’ Association of Oberlin College comprise one small box containing two books of minutes, a cash book, loose constitution and by-laws documents and receipts, lists of directors (or matrons), and the College Archivist’s record of his conversation with the donor, a member of the organization. These papers reflect Joe Blitman’s participation and interest in student politics and activism, 1967-71, while a student at Oberlin College. Archives staff printed out thirty-six articles that concern or are authored by Blitman from the Oberlin Review, 1969-71, mainly concerning student politics, anti-Vietnam War activism, and film critique. The records of the Oberlin Unit of the NAACP cover the period from ca. 1919 to 1976, and from 1990 to 2014. They comprise certificates of achievement, correspondence, Freedom Fund Banquet programs, membership campaign materials, reports, general NAACP information, and complaint case files. The single volume of detailed minutes of the meetings provides a record of the discussions held and opinions expressed by members. Resolutions passed comprise a substantial part of the minutes. The 1835 constitution and annual reports also are included in the notebook. The dates covered by the volume are 1835 to 1857. A copy has been made for public access.
