This collection consists of the records of the Oberlin College African American Studies Department. It has been divided into three record series: Administrative Files, Student Papers, and Special Events.

Scope and Contents The Student Notes collection comprises selected materials produced by students for courses at Oberlin College. The material types include loose notes, notebooks, diaries, examination books, syllabi, maps, handouts, and a chart of world history (oversize). Notes taken in the nineteenth century document pedagogical methods by early Oberlin professors, including Charles Grandison Finney. Two bound volumes of notes by Elizabeth W. R. Scope and Contents

The Student Papers collection consists of research papers written by Oberlin College students. The majority of the research topics concern Oberlin issues or people, but some cover other topics. The collection is one series, listing student papers in alphabetical order by author.

This record group consists of archival and duplicate sets of student publications, microfilmed issues of 15 publications, and other records related to student publications. This includes historical information and charters. It is arranged in four record series.
