Oberlin Historical and Improvement Organization (O.H.I.O.) Records

Scope and Contents This record group, consisting of three subgroups, documents the activities and efforts of Oberlin citizens to improve the town and to preserve its history. The first two subgroups represent the records of the predecessor organizations which merged to form O.H.I.O. in 1964. Oberlin Community Welfare Council Records

Scope and Contents

Records of the Oberlin Community Welfare Council date from 1956 to 1976. They consist primarily of annual reports for the years 1958 to 1976, with reports for 1960, 1961, and 1975 missing. The annual reports contain reports of the president, treasurer, caseworker, and various committees. The OCWC records also include a twelve-month report of the information and Referral Office for the year August 1, 1956, to July 31, 1957.

This record group holds small amounts of material for fourteen clubs and associations in Lorain County in Series 1, and the larger Series 2 on the Neighborhood House Association of Lorain County. The latter includes oral history interviews on cassette tapes and select transcriptions on the history of the Neighborhood House Association.
