Photographs: Hi-O-Hi Yearbook Collection
Scope and Contents
The Oberlin College yearbook, titled the Hi-O-Hi, is a rich source of photographic documentation from 1889 to 2006, after which it ceased publication. In the final years of the yearbook, publication was erratic. The Hi-O-Hi photograph collection covers the years 1960-61, 1972-77, and the 1980s through 1994. There is less photographic documentation of the College in general for the 1980s though the early 2000s, and this collection helps to fill that gap.
The collection is arranged into four series: Series 1. Layout Sheets; Series 2. Photographic Prints (loose) and Graphics; Series 3. Contact Sheets and Negatives, and Series 4. Digital Duplicates of Yearbooks on DVDs.
Beginning in 2010, the college library began sending yearbooks to a professional digital conversion lab in order to mount the yearbooks of significant alumni years online on the Five Colleges of Ohio web site (link on the Archives web site homepage). Yearbooks for the classes of 1960-63 and 1985-87 were digitized in time for the 50th and 25th reunions for those classes from 2010 to 2013. In this series are stored the DVDs produced by Digital Conversion Solutions and one DVD produced in-house.

A small amount of material from the 1970s was previously filed in Subjects, RG 32/5 from an unknown source.
