Scope and Contents

The John T. Seyfried Photograph Collection comprises prints, negatives, slides and transparencies produced by Seyfied for Oberlin College as freelance work. They cover college events, people, buildings, performances, and guest visitors to campus in the 1980s through the 2000s. Many of the images were used by the Office of Communications for college publications. The collection is arranged in three series.

Scope and Contents The Leslie Candor Farquhar Papers are comprised of correspondence, writings, brochures, advertisements, manuscripts, photographs, negatives, slides, exhibit materials, and a scrapbook, most of which were produced by Leslie Farquhar as a journalist, writer, photographer and community volunteer.  They reflect the Oberlin College and town community and, to a lesser extent, the Elyria community, primarily during the 1970s through 2008. Scope and Contents The records of the Oberlin College Library, the files of Ray English, Director of Libraries, predominantly cover the years of 1990-2015. They relate to the leadership of Ray English over a span of twenty-five years. The Oberlin College Teachers Academy records have been arranged in four series. The collection ranges in date from 1986 through 1991, and include marketing and historical information as well as photographs.

Scope and Contents The records of the Office of Communications and its predecessor bodies serve as a significant vertical file covering a wide range of events and topics of interest to the College. The records, existing in both textual and non-textual formats, thus provide an historical overview of these events and topics, dating from 1923 through the present. This record group, consisting of five series, documents the activities of the Peace Corps Training Program that existed at Oberlin College from 1963-1966. Because the program trained volunteers for the French-speaking Ivory Coast, some of the documents are written in French.

Scope and Contents The Oberlin College yearbook, titled the Hi-O-Hi, is a rich source of photographic documentation from 1889 to 2006, after which it ceased publication. In the final years of the yearbook, publication was erratic. The Hi-O-Hi photograph collection covers the years 1960-61, 1972-77, and the 1980s through 1994. The negatives are arranged into three subgroups: Glass plate negatives; photographic materials (including some glass plate) by College photographers Arthur Ludwig and Arthur Ewing Princehorn; and the general collection of film negatives. Scope and Contents This small photographic collection comprises two series: Series 1 holds two developed rolls of 35mm black and white negatives and contact sheets from them.
