There are various spellings of the names of the members of this family. Mehetabel Pettengill, in particular, appears in different spellings by various correspondents. She herself spelled her name Mehetabel Pettengill.

The records of the Young Men's and Young Women's Christian Associations of Oberlin College consist of annual reports, minutes, correspondence, scrapbooks, cloth maps, and printed materials documenting the organizations' governance and programs.
