The papers of George W. Dell primarily document his research for a biography of Robert Maynard Hutchins (Oberlin College Honorary War Membership, 1919). The Gertrude F. Jacob Papers consists of six (6) record series. The scope of the historical material is relatively narrow and uneven, and the content primarily covers Miss Jacob’s professional career at Oberlin’s Office of the Secretary, 1937-43, the Graduate School of Theology (GST), 1944-65, and the Oberlin College Archives, 1965-89. Scope and Contents The papers of Giles Waldo and Mary E. Burton Shurtleff consist, in large part, of their correspondence, 1862-1887. This is by far the richest series in the collection. Two hundred and twenty-one of the letters were written by Giles between 1861-65 while he was on active service.
